Playa Flamenca
The nearest beach, Playa Flamenca, is about twenty minuites walk, but within two miles are beaches at La Zenia, Punta Prima and the much-photographed Cabo Roig beach and harbour.
Torrevieja (Link) is a bustling Spanish town with many shops, a long promenade, parks and museums and an International marina. On Fridays there is a huge street market. It is a family resort enjoying 340 days a year of sunshine.
Further a field, visit the unique inland sea of Mar Menor, which is separated from the Mediterranean by a narrow strip of land and sandbank thirteen miles long. The water is no more than 20feet deep and there are a large number of sandy beaches. |
Inland is the historic town of Orihuela, with its narrow streets and squares and the city of Elche, renowned for its tens of thousands of palms and nearby sub-tropical gardens of Huerto del Cura, while Murcia’s cathedral ranks among the finest in Spain.
The villa is ideally situated for those who enjoy a round of golf. The famous championship golf course at Villamartin is less than ten minutes drive away, as is the beautiful course at Campoamar with its glorious 19th hole and panoramic views. Campoamoor is set in two valleys with magnificent views. Las Ramblas (approx 10 minutes drive) is the shortest of the three. The recently opened spectacular La Finca Golf course is slightly more inland and about 20 mins in the car. The world famous La Manga course is only about a 40 minute drive south along the coast. A must for any keen golfer. If you are planning to play golf during your visit, it is strongly advisable to pre-book your tee-times to avoid disappointment !
